Keep a register of your professional advisers
The Advisers page in Governance lists the professional firms your charity uses, such as your bank, solicitors and independent examiner. Your Trustees' Annual Report must name them and draws on this list. It is separate from the Advisor sign-in role, which controls app access.
Charity accounting rules (SORP) say your Trustees' Annual Report must name your professional advisers. Keeping them on one list means the report writes itself from live data, and a new treasurer or trustee can see at a glance who the charity's bank, solicitor and examiner are.
Add an adviser
- Open Governance, then Advisers.
- Select Add adviser.
- Pick the Role: banker, solicitor, auditor, independent examiner, investment adviser, insurer, accountant or other.
- Enter the Name of the firm or person. For example, Meadowbank Community Trust lists "Hartley & Co" as its independent examiner.
- Add Contact details and any Notes if they're useful, then select Add.
What happens next
The list feeds your Trustees' Annual Report, so the reference and administrative details section starts from what's here. Keep it current when you change bank or appoint a new examiner. Every change is recorded in your audit history.
Advisers register or Advisor access?
These sound alike but do different jobs. This register is a list of firms for your annual report. Nobody on it can sign in or see anything. If you want your accountant or examiner to actually work inside CharityControl, give them a sign-in with the Advisor role instead. Give an advisor access explains how.
