What CharityControl connects to

Checked 2026-08-06 · A couple of minutes to read

CharityControl connects to Xero or QuickBooks for your accounts, Mailchimp for newsletters, and HMRC for Gift Aid claims. Video meetings are built in, meetings can feed your own calendar, and approved developer apps can read your data only with your permission.

Your accounts: Xero and QuickBooks

Keep your bookkeeping where it is. Connect Xero and CharityControl reads your figures to show reserves, restricted funds, cash and a simple profit and loss, shaped for trustees. The connection is encrypted and we only read your data, we never change it. See connect Xero.

You can connect QuickBooks Online today, and live figures from QuickBooks are still being built. See connect QuickBooks for what works now.

Each charity connects one accounting service at a time, either Xero or QuickBooks. No accounting software at all? That's fine too: see money without accounting software.

Gift Aid: straight to HMRC

CharityControl sends Gift Aid claims, including GASDS, straight to HMRC's Charities Online service, with no spreadsheets to upload. This is included on every plan, including the free one. See claim Gift Aid online.

Newsletters: Mailchimp

Sync your supporters to a Mailchimp audience for newsletters. Consent recorded in CharityControl always wins, so someone who withdraws consent is removed from the audience rather than quietly kept on it. See Mailchimp sync.

Video meetings: built in

Video is part of CharityControl and runs on our own servers, so there's no third-party video provider and nothing extra to buy. Prefer Zoom, Teams or Meet? Paste your own meeting link instead. See run a video meeting.

Your calendar

Meeting invitations arrive as standard calendar files, and you can subscribe your own calendar app to a feed of your charity's meetings and deadlines, so they appear alongside everything else in your week.

Public records

We read public data from the Charity Commission register and Companies House to pre-fill and cross-check your records. This is one-way: we read what's already public, and we never send them your private data.

For developers

Developers can build apps that read your charity's data through our public API, but only after your administrator approves the connection. Approved apps are read-only, sensitive records like safeguarding are never available to them, and every read is logged where your charity can see it. You can disconnect an app at any time.
