Ask members and volunteers what they think
Go to Giving, then Surveys, and create a survey. Add your questions, open it for responses and share the link. People answer in their browser without signing in, and the results roll up for you question by question.
Create and share a survey
- Go to Giving, then Surveys, and select New survey.
- Give it a title, for example "Volunteer experience 2026", and a short intro saying why you're asking and how long it takes.
- Leave Collect responses anonymously ticked unless you have a good reason not to. People answer more honestly when they know it's anonymous.
- Select Create, then add questions.
- Select Add question and pick an answer type: short text, long text, choose one, choose any, a 1 to 5 rating, or yes/no. Choice questions need at least two options. Tick Required for anything people must answer.
- When you're happy, select Open for responses.
- Copy the link and share it in a newsletter, on WhatsApp, or as a QR code at an event.
Nobody needs to sign in
Anyone with the link can answer in their browser. There's no account or password for them, and nothing to install. If the link ends up somewhere you didn't intend, select Reset link. The old link and any QR codes stop working straight away.
Watching the results
Select Responses to see answers roll up question by question, with counts and averages. You can export everything as a CSV file to open in a spreadsheet, which is handy for funder reports. When you've heard enough, close the survey. You can reopen it later.
Common questions
What happens if I delete a survey?
A survey with no responses is deleted. A survey with responses is archived instead, because the answers people gave you are kept as evidence. You can still read and export them, and restore the survey later. A restored survey stays closed until you deliberately reopen it.
Can I edit a survey once it's open?
Yes, from the same Build screen. Be careful about changing questions once responses have come in, as earlier answers were given to the old wording.
