Invite your fellow trustees
Go to More, then Admin & settings, then Users & roles, and click Add user. Enter their email and name, tick a role such as trustee, and save. Then send them your workspace address. They enter their email there and we email them a sign-in link.
Add a trustee
- Open More, then Admin & settings, then Users & roles.
- Click Add user.
- Enter their Email. This is where their sign-in links go, so it must be an address they can open.
- Enter their Display name.
- If they're already on your register of appointments, use Link to register person so their votes and attendance connect up.
- Tick at least one role. For a board member, tick trustee.
- Optionally set Access ends, a last sign-in day. It's useful for advisors and short-term help. Leave it blank for trustees.
- Click Add user.
Then tell them where to sign in
Adding someone doesn't send them an email by itself. Send them your workspace address, for example meadowbank-animal-rescue.charitycontrol.co.uk. They enter their email there, click Email me a sign-in link, and they're in. There are no passwords to set up or forget. See sign in without a password.
Which role should they have?
- admin: everything, including managing users. Have at least two admins if you can.
- trustee: full governance access, for board members.
- advisor: outside help such as an accountant. Broad access to help run things, but approvals stay with trustees.
- volunteer: their own tasks and assigned projects only.
Roles decide what someone can see and change, so a volunteer can't wander into board papers. You can change roles any time from the same page.
People can also ask to join from charitycontrol.org. Those requests appear at the top of Users & roles for you to approve or decline.
